Penetration Grade Bitumen

Penetration grade bitumen is a commonly used term in the field of asphalt and road construction. Bitumen, also known as asphalt, is a black, sticky, and highly viscous liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. It is a crucial component in the construction of roads, highways, and other infrastructure. Penetration grade is a measure of the hardness or consistency of bitumen. It is determined by the depth in tenths of a millimetres to which a standard needle will penetrate vertically into a sample of bitumen under specified conditions of loading, time, and temperature.
